Does My Child Need a Medical Exam?

YES, your child may need to be seen by a medical professional. The exam has 2 purposes: to ensure the health and safety of your child and to identify any evidence of child abuse. CFAC team members can refer you to a doctor who specializes in working with children. An examination will reassure your child that his/her body is okay. You may be present during the medical exam.
Does My Child Need Counseling?

YES. It is important for your child to have an opportunity to talk to a professional. Some children are uncomfortable talking to their parents, because they feel ashamed, afraid or guilty. Children dislike seeing their parents upset or angry. Children have different needs and concerns which deserve to be addressed by a trained therapist. Mental health therapists can apply their special training, knowledge and experience the help ensure that your child recovers and heals as quickly as possible. Family counseling is also a valuable tool in recovery. CFAC can refer you to individual counseling or a support group to deal with your feelings about your child's abuse.
